My Journey to Aimyable: Why I Believe AI Digital Coworkers Are the Future of Accounts Payable
I’m the CEO of Aimyable, a company we started in 2023 to bring the power of artificial intelligence into accounts payable. For me, this isn’t just a new venture — it’s the next step in a career that’s been deeply connected to AP for decades.
My background has always been in accounts payable. I began my career with Andersen Consulting back in the 90s. That might be dating me a little bit, but at the time I was working with ERP implementations, purchasing, and AP. It was also the moment when internet technologies were just starting to take off, and I saw the opportunity for them to transform the way finance teams worked.
That vision led me to start iPayables, a company dedicated to automating AP processes with a self-service supplier portal. I served as CEO there for about 20 years, growing the business to more than 100 employees and serving some of the largest organizations in the world — Yum Brands, American Airlines, Delta Airlines, Kroger, and many others. We did a lot of good work in automating accounts payable and making it more efficient. In 2022, we sold iPayables, and I began to look toward the next wave of innovation.
Why Aimyable and AI Digital Coworkers
When I started exploring what was next, artificial intelligence reminded me a lot of the early internet. It was obvious to me that AI was going to change everything, and I wanted to focus on how it could be applied in accounts payable.
That’s how Aimyable was born. We didn’t want to just build another automation tool — we wanted to create a true AI digital coworker. Aimy is designed to join your AP team the way a new clerk would: trained on your processes, working alongside your people, and helping relieve the burden of repetitive, time-consuming tasks.
By introducing AI coworkers in this way, AP teams can elevate their roles, focus on more strategic contributions, and bring greater value to the business.
My Leadership Philosophy
Looking back on my leadership style, there are three qualities I’ve always emphasized:
1. Delivering Value
First and foremost, what we deliver to customers must provide real value. It’s not just about selling software — it’s about ensuring that the investment our clients make translates into the outcomes they expect.
2. Customer Service
Customers need to know they’re being heard. Attentiveness, responsiveness, and addressing concerns quickly have always been central to how I run a business.
3. Open Culture
Culture matters just as much as technology. I’ve always believed in breaking down silos — making sure technology teams are accessible and integrated with implementation, support, and even directly with customers. That openness leads to stronger products and faster innovation.
Beyond the Office
While Aimyable is a huge focus for me, I’m also very family-oriented. I enjoy spending time with my kids and taking advantage of the Southern California coast — surfing and outdoor activities help me recharge and keep perspective.
Looking Ahead
I believe that artificial intelligence will shape the future of accounts payable in the same way the internet reshaped business in the 90s. At Aimyable, we’re building solutions that don’t just automate processes, but truly partner with finance teams as AI digital coworkers. I couldn’t be more excited about the journey ahead.
